BOYCOTT Uber until there are positive policy changes made regarding Uber’s unethical and illegal use of “God View,” which violates the rights of their customers ;and, “God View” was again used inconsistently & contradictorily to dismiss a legal case where an Uber X driver (able to drive own vehicle) killed a six-year-old girl . Uber CEO Travis Kalanick must publically address the unethical and illegal misuse of “God View” with a positive policy change to protect the public and their customers.
“People don’t know what they’re getting into when they get into one of these cars, they don’t know what they’re getting into when they download the app,” said lawyer Chris Dolan of Dolan Law Firm, who is representing a 6-year-old girl struck and killed by an Uber driver earlier this year. “They’re giving Uber a free pass — up to death.”
Dolan claims Uber’s terms and conditions are a way for the company to absolve itself of any liability in cases of injury or accident and to avoid responsibility for a driver’s actions. “It completely covers their ass and says ‘We’re not responsible for anything that happens to you, period,'” Dolan said. “It says, ‘You can be raped, you can be killed, you can be murdered, and it’s not our responsibility.'”
Uber CEO Travis Kalanick has heralded the service as being ultrasafe. “Safety is No. 1 at Uber…so we make sure the system is in place so riders get the safest ride possible,” Kalanick told CNNMoney in June. “With that said, Uber is in the limelight. When things happen, if there’s claims of any kind in any city in any car, we take those claims very seriously.”
Dolan believes Uber’s statements on safety contradict its terms and conditions. “It’s an outright deception on people,” Dolan said. “They do not in any way seek to warrant that their product is safe. They put it right there in the writing.” C/Net

Uber and Lyft have brought modern technology to an old industry with many benefits. The price for this progress however, is unsafe rides and exploitation of drivers. Take a look at one idea for solving the dilemma.

Hi Philip- I agree that innovation is necessary and as you mention Napster in your article it was a company founded on fraud which is my concern. Our society hero worships startup Gods of Frauds, who were rewarded, encouraged and now this unethical and illegal activity is being replicated.
Innovations, if done legally and ethically, which are two factors that are certainly lacking in many strartups and corporations across industry, take longer to build a sustainable market and investors want their ROI quickly coupled with lack of regulation is the foundation for The Sociopathic Business Model™. Startups are about hypergrowth with maximum profit; and, unethical startups or those engaged in illegal activity will put all profits before consumers as we’re very clearly seeing a pattern with Uber.
Forced accountability from consumers is the only way to get an unrepentant company who does not want to operate ethically or legally to conform. Exposing the truth unethical companies would rather remain hidden can bring about positive change. If their profits are impacted they will change and the industry will be forced to change.
