Achoo! Allergies & Stress
Orange blossoms and cherry blossoms are amazing in the spring but can be tough if you suffer from allergies. For many a runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing can accompany this fragrant season.
Did you know that a sneeze can exceed 100 mph?
That kind of force explains why we can’t keep our eyes open when we sneeze, (we’ve all tried, haven’t we)? Sneezing can be attributed to allergies it appears so can stress.
Researchers from Ohio State University in Columbus explore the link between allergies and stress in a new study, published in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.
“Symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes can cause added stress for allergy sufferers, and may even be the root of stress for some,” says lead author of the new study, Dr. Amber Patterson. “While alleviating stress won’t cure allergies, it may help decrease episodes of intense symptoms.”
Some of the most common allergies are:
- Hay Fever (Allergic Rhinitis)
- Food Allergies
- Bee Stings
- Some of the symptoms include:
- Difficulty Breathing
If you’re unsure if you suffer for allegies it’s best to see an ENT or Board Certified Allegist in your area.
