Is Bridget Ross Bad for Business? Congresswoman Jackie Speier Edition

August 14, 2014

Today it was announced that Congresswoman Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo visited two manufacturing companies on O’Brein Drive in Menlo Park. I used to get a paycheck from a company on that very drive.  Wow!  That’s a pretty big honor for Wasiq Bokhari CEO of Qbotix, manufactures of robotic solar tracking systems and Scott Chamness, senior manager at Acclarent (Who? Was the janitor busy?) manufactures of medical devices for ear, nose and throat patients.

Well that’s inconsistent and contradictory language to actions to have a senior manager do a tour and not the CEO.  Who would hold that illustrious title at Acclarent?  Well none other than  Bridget Ross Worldwide President at Acclarent a Johnson & Johnson Company from 2011 to current (it appears the CEO title retired when William “Bill” Facteau (ahem) retired from the company) Where have we heard that name Bridget Ross before?

Oh that’s right Ms. Ross has had an amazing run at Johnson & Johnson

Starting her career in 1996 at Janssen Pharmaceuticals

Yep that Janssen Pharmaceuticals that was federally fined $2.2 billion

Illegal kickbacks and  off-label promotion of Risperdal

Yep, that Risperdal where

Over 1,207 Children suffered serious problems

Including 31 children who died

and 14 year old boys grew breasts

But she was just a lowly ummm err…

1999-2003 Bridget Ross Business Unit Leader, Janssen-Ortho., Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson

2003-2005 Bridget Ross Executive Director, Global Marketing Leader, Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson

2005-2008  Bridget Ross VP of Sales & Marketing, Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson

2009-2010 Bridget Ross VP of Commercial Analytics Operations, Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson

Well, I guess anyone could just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time or umm err…

2010-2011 Bridget Ross Worldwide President, Ethicon Women’s Health & Urology (Ethicon/Gynecare is a Division of Johnson & Johnson)

Johnson & Johnson destroyed thousands of files vaginal mesh implants, a judge says. This is Johnson & Johnson’s  Ethicon’s Gynecare Prolift (dating back to when Ms. Ross oversaw the division)

Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon’s Gynecare the largest producers of transvaginal mesh have over 20,000 federal cases against them for injurying women sold during the time Ms. Ross oversaw the division

Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon’s Gynecare “has decided” to take the possible cancer causing mocellators off the market which were sold during the time Ms. Ross oversaw the division.

Is that a professional CV or a prison rap sheet?

2011-present Bridget Ross Worldwide President at Acclarent a Johnson & Johnson/Ethicon Company

Maybe the rap sheet CV is why Bridget Ross a female World Wide President of Acclarent (wasn’t there today to greet a female congresswoman to discuss the “Make It In America Act,” to provide tax incentives for job creation.

Or maybe (if the anonymous board Medtech[y] is to be believed as well as an inside source) that Acclarent just let 14-15 reps go after an internal investigation turned up that these reps had other jobs in order to supplement their drastically cut incomes (often a sign of mismanagement); but,  job loss is inconsistent and contradictory language to action regarding the goal of “Make It In America Act,” by cutting jobs and not creating them.  Is this now the new “Gold Standard” in business?
