“In a sign of how quickly social media has changed the digital landscape, consumers are now ‘pinning’ things like articles, photos and recipes to share with their friends more often than emailing links,” wrote Kurt Abrahamson of ShareThis.

Pinterest is valued at nearly $4 billion (what?) and in Q4 of 2013 it raced past email and is third only to Facebook and Twitter for online sharing.
